Ayu: Keep To Your Word – Udom Urges PDP Leaders

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, on Thursday, called on the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to keep to their promises.

Udom stated this amid the calls for the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office. Ayu’s decision to remain in office and the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, refusal to prevail on him has seen the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike pull out of the presidential campaign council of the party. Wike’s camp on Wednesday insisted that it would not be involved in the presidential campaign if Ayu does not resign. Atiku in his reaction to their stand said Ayu will only be removed from his position if the law in the party allows it. Naija News understands that reports had emerged claiming that Ayu had promised to quit his position if the PDP elects a northerner as its presidential candidate. But Ayu has refused to honour his promised despite the emergence of Atiku as presidential flagbearer. Udom who is the Chairman of the PDP presidential campaign council said the aggrieved members of the party have the right to express their grievances. The PDP Governor, speaking on Channels TV, said, “This is a family business. Nyesom Wike is my brother, you all know that…One thing I discovered about politics and life: people should try to do what they say they will do; that is the cause of some of the problems. If I say I will do B if A happens, let me keep to that. If I say I will do B if C happens, let me also keep to that.” He further stated that the party will not ignore the issues, adding that everyone is needed for the party to win the 2023 presidential election.
