Gov. Fintiri Resuscitates Eight Skills Acquisition Centers In Adamawa

As part of his plans to fulfil his campaign promise to the people of the state, Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Thursday flagged off the resuscitation of 8 technical skills acquisition centres across Adamawa state for the training of youths in various vocational trades.

The centres will commence operation with the first batch of 2,700 youths, who will undergo training in skills such as building, welding, mechanic, electronics and tailoring among others. At the resuscitation event held at the technical centre at Jibiro Jabbi Lamba in Girei local government area, Governor Fintiri said youths and human capital development are components of his administration’s 11-point agenda. Noting that “my administration upon assumption formed a committee to study the closed centres which eventually came up with far-reaching recommendations that were adopted”. Fintiri further disclosed that the training centres have the capacity to train a minimum of 20,000 youths annually and will no doubt address the growing unemployment and insecurity in the land. He commended the visionary foresight of former Governor Murtala Nyako for establishing the training centres and declared that government will continue to thank him for this milestone achievement. In her remarks, the head of Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Hajiya Aishatu Bawa Bello said the resuscitated centres in addition to the social support scheme programme will indeed make Adamawa youths productive. The commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, Mr Iliya James noted with appreciation the administration’s determination to empower youths and urged the youths to take advantage of the opportunity. In their separate goodwill messages, the chairman Girei local government council, Mr Judah Amisa, District Head of Girei, Doctor Ahmad Mustafa and community leader, Hamma Garaji described the reopening of the centres as timely as it will reduce insecurity.
