A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adakole Ijoki on Wednesday said the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has the backing of five Governors, past governors, and lawmakers in the ongoing crisis in the party.
The PDP chieftain noted that the crisis in the PDP is not centred around the Rivers State Governor alone. Ijoki noted that the team of Governor Wike have not met with the leadership of the party, talkless of meeting the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar. The PDP chieftain further stated that Governor Wike’s team have not made demands on how to resolve the crisis in the party. He, however, confirmed that the team would meet soon to resolve the crisis rocking the main opposition party. Ijoki stated this during an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday. He said, “To be fair to Nigerians and the PDP, it is good to put things in perspective. It is not just Governor Wike; there are other four or five governors with him. “We have past governors, senators and other chieftains of the party involved in the struggle. “So, when you say Governor Wike, you make the situation look, pedestrian. I can say that Governor Wike and his team led by Prof. Jerry Gana have not met with the party not to talk about meeting the presidential candidate. And if they have not met, then, we can’t be talking about giving conditions for the resolution of the impasse. “I still maintain that the set of demands has not been made public. Whatever you hear is still in the realm of rumour.”
